CDL - Driver in Retirement Community - Part time

Department: Transportation
Location: Burlington, NC

JOB TITLE: CDL Driver

DEPARTMENT: Transportation

REPORTS TO: Director of Resident Services

HOURS: PRN (as needed) 5pm - 10pm Monday's and Friday's - Additional hours may be required for off campus events during the weekend

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for transporting residents on and off campus to and from a variety of appointments, activities, errands, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide transportation services when scheduled or on an emergency basis for residents at any level of care by loading/unloading residents and transporting to activities/appointments and providing assistance when needed.
  2. Maintain and facilitate a caring, compassionate and understanding relationship with residents by answering all questions and concerns.
  3. Precisely finish all paperwork connect with transporting the resident.
  4. Transport residents safely and in a timely manner to their final destination along with guaranteeing that the residents are secured when transporting.
  5. Ensure that vehicles are kept clean and maintained at all times.
  6. Fill vans and buses with gas, maintain vehicles cleanliness, provide routine scheduled inspections on all fleet vehicles and advise on necessary preventative or scheduled maintenance needs.
  7. Reports all vehicle maintenance needs to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  8. Reports all unusual conditions, behaviors, and/or resident complaints to the appropriate Management/Supervisory personnel in a timely manner.
  9. Maintains a travel log to record areas traveled to, travel time and work hours.
  10. Responds and reacts in a kind, polite, and professional manner to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervision.
  11. Responsible for protecting any confidential information concerning residents, family, and/or the organization.
  12. Bus drivers must maintain a current CDL and all drivers must demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to all Safety procedures
  13. Reports any instance of an accident, injury or damage of vehicles to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  14. Maintains all vehicle records, including receipts for vehicle maintenance.
  15. Adheres to all organizational, departmental, and transportation procedures in the performance of position responsibilities.
  16. Must attend organizational or departmental conferences and/or in-services as scheduled.
  17. Dress professionally an in accordance with the company’s dress code.
  18. May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements

Specific Requirements:

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement
  • Flexible schedule for availability to work days, nights and weekends
